Dr Michael Mosley has produced a book advising the use of low carbohydrate diets as a way of treating, preventing and potentially reversing Type 2 Diabetes.  You can find his book on Amazon here.  He also has a website here.


If you use insulin or sulphonylurea medication (e.g. Gliclazide) you need to be careful as you will be at increased risk of hypoglycaemia by reducing carbohydrates consumed.

Emma Porter lives with Type 1 Diabetes and is an advocate for the use of low carbohydrate diets as a way to help control Type 1 but also to help manage and even reverse Type 2 Diabetes.  You can find her book on Amazon here.  She also has a website here with some free recepies.

Professor Roy Taylor is one of the main researchers on the DIRECT which has shown that some people are able to put Type 2 Diabetes into remission through the use of a low calorie diet.  You can find his book on Amazon here which is a very useful guide to this approach.

Peer Support

Sugar Buddies Hampshire and Dorset Peer Support is a closed group on Facebook for people with all types of Diabetes.  They arrange local meetups to discuss various topics and also arrange walks.  The Facebook group is a good place to ask a question of the over 450 members who also live with all types of Diabetes.  They can also be found on Twitter at @Sugarbuddies1.
